see#5 Review
Fascinating speeches, excellent ambiance, super weather, 800 enthusiastic spectators - despite Iceland's volcanic cloud and the associated short notice programme and speaker changes, the fifth see conference was a complete success.
Our speakers showed what role "Information Visualisation" plays in their relative fields. From mathematics in pictures to a spontaneous collective dance to light and space installations, there was something there for everybody. Thanks to videoconferencing, the spectators were able to follow the speeches of both of the unfortunately absent American speakers, Kent Demaine and Nicholas Felton, live - the latter were thereby able to participate in the conference in a fully charming way. Dieter Brell from 3deluxe spontaneously filled in as speaker and presented exciting light, installation, and interior design work his agency has created these past few years.
The weather was more than presentable: A lot of sun invited participants to network and relax out of doors. The use of the Schlachthof as a new location was viewed positively by all participants, and we are therefore already looking forward to next year!
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all speakers, sponsors, students, assistants, and, of course, the numerous visitors - without you, this event would not have been possible!
For those who were not there or would like to see the speeches once more: Click here to view the video stream. You can see a great real-time Twitter visualisation of visitor feedback from Moritz Stefaner here.
